Continuing with our post on why some men put of proposing despite being in a loving relationship, here are three suggestions we offer. Do send in yours or add to ours!
1. Enjoy the me time
So he wants to go drinking with his buddies after the game? That’s great. It certainly does not convey that he prefers their company to yours. Instead it gives you the opportunity to catch up with your girlfriends or paper yourself at a spa! Let him know that doing things alone every once in a while is totally cool. Let him know you are not a clinger. Once he realizes that getting engaged is not the end of his freedom, he will view the change in relationship more positively.
2. Family is great but your relationship comes first
No matter how well intended the advice is, constant family interference is annoying. This is your life together, and even if the choices you make are not perfect, you are entitled to your share of mistakes!
3. Guide his choice
So he buys you a pretty scarf. Or at least he thinks you’ll look gorgeous wearing it. Rather than sounding fake, genuinely appreciate the thought behind the gesture, and the next time you go shopping make it a point to comment on colors you really like. Do the same with jewelry. If you see a ring you love, make sure you casually comment on its design or setting. Constant encouragement and pointers will build his confidence when selecting that perfect ring!
