This is the eternal dilemma for a man, and the unending frustration for the women in a committed relationship.
So what is it about proposing that scares men to death? Here are our top three reasons. Write back with yours and keep a look out for the solutions we will soon post.
1. A full point to freedom?
No matter how much your man loves you, or how committed he is, he still clings on to that sense of freedom. Until he puts a ring on it, in his mind, he is still the master of his own destiny. Or so he think! The sinking fear, that from that day on, all his decisions will be filtered through your critical eyes, or that he will never again drink alone with his male buddies without a feeling of guilty, is downright terrifying! No matter how untrue this might be, it is for him, a constant worry.
2. “I Do” promise to marry the family!!!!!
More often than not, following the proposal, is the big wedding. This means having to deal with not just his family, but yours as well. He probably visualizes your mother breathing down his neck, on a daily basis, right until the marriage! (Perhaps lifelong thereafter?) The very thought makes him cringe and can you really blame him for that?
3. And that’s the way the money goes …..
The oft repeated phrase that the engagement ring should be equivalent to three months salary is a huge financial barrier to overcome, especially in today’s economic situation. Made all the more daunting, since around the corner lurks the even bigger wedding cost. Pop goes the weasel!
