BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS  --  Thousands of Brides-To-Be and others are angry after seeing a report on the Today Show which aired a video of employees from Priscilla's of Boston destroying several unsold wedding dresses after the closing of the David's Bridal owned retail stores.

A tipster reported the employees of Priscilla's of Boston to a Midwest news station which aired the story earlier this week, and has since spread like wildfire, nationwide. The source captured photos and video of the bridal shop employees spray painting and destroying several wedding dresses, all of which appeared to be perfectly good dresses too.

Many of the wedding dresses destroyed were valued between $2,000 to $4,000 and included at least one Vera Wang bridal gown that was valued at over $6,000.

This was not only upsetting to thousands of brides-to-be, but was also a shock to many people in the wedding industry, particularly those with close ties to the parent company of Priscilla's of Boston, a well known wedding retailer, David's Bridal.

With millions of dollars contributed to charitable organizations in the past, David's Bridal has established an outstanding credibility as a leading wedding industry retailer. They have vowed to donate any unsold and discontinued wedding dress and bridal accessories, but failed to honor that commitment with their public display of destruction, when several perfectly good wedding dresses were trashed after a Midwest Priscilla's of Boston closed for business this week.

David's Bridal has issued a public apology, or so they call it, saying they were disheartened to learn about the wedding dresses being destroyed. They issued the following press release:

"Like many of you, we were disheartened by imagery of a small number of unsold bridal gowns being destroyed following a Priscilla of Boston salon closure in the Midwest. As the parent company of Priscilla of Boston, we fully understand the anger and frustration that many people are feeling about this occurrence.

While it has been Priscilla of Boston's policy not to make donations of sample dresses that are in poor condition, we recognize that some of these dresses could possibly have gone to worthy causes. David's Bridal has already begun bringing together all of the remaining Priscilla of Boston gowns to evaluate them and ensure they're donated to our charitable partners wherever possible.

From all of us at David's Bridal, we truly appreciate hearing your sentiments. We believe that every bride deserves a beautiful gown, and we will continue to honor that commitment."

Does that seem like an apology to you? David's Bridal said they do not donate unsaleable or damaged wedding dresses, but in the photos and video captured by an anonymous source, the wedding dresses being destroyed appeared to be perfectly good, and were taken straight from the racks once open to the public, to the back of the store where the dresses were spray painted, torn, and thrown into a large dumpster.
