Every bride wants her wedding to be unique and utterly unforgettable. For some brides, including myself, a traditional wedding followed by a sit-down dinner at a banquet hall is just not our vision. We want more. We want something that showcases our personality. A destination wedding can be the ideal solution for any couple dreaming of a unique, memorable event.
San Francisco, New York, Boston and Atlanta each offer several unique wedding opportunities. However, the centrally located city of Chicagomay be one of the most versatile destination wedding locales for bridal couples.
Give in to your animal instincts and have your wedding at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. The zoo has several great potential wedding sites, including the elegant Café Brauer, the Kovler Lion House and the Café at Wild Things, that all offer views of lions, tigers, seals and more. The folks at the zoo will help you create a memorable wedding day and your guests will be able to enjoy the sights as well as the great food and entertainment you provide for them.
Hit it out of the park:
Your wedding can be a grand slam when you have it at historic Wrigley Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. The Stadium Club at Wrigley Field can seat 200 for an indoor reception and offers on-site catering plus the couple’s name in lights on the Wrigley marquee. Wrigley Field would be a great place for two sports fans to create some history of their own, too. It will make each visit to the stadiumto cheer the Cubs on more that more special.
Go back to nature:
The nature lovers would have a great wedding at the Lincoln Park Conservatory. The Conservatory has impressive sculptures placed throughout the garden that would make wedding décor almost unnecessary. This location is also a fantastic place to capture your big day with some great photos. You and your significant other will look great with some orchids in the background. There’s a koi fish pondthere, too, that will make for some great photo opportunities.
Find your dream
Other unique Chicago wedding sites include the world famous Art Institute, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum or the elegant rooms of the Chicago Cultural Center. You really can’t go wrong with any of these options as they all offer a wonderful wedding day experience. If you’ve been itching for a beach wedding, but don’t want to hit the coastline, picture your wedding on Lake Michigan with the city’s skyline as a backdrop. The luxury yacht, the Valara VI, is available for wedding cruises if you want the view without the sand.
Whatever you choose for your destination wedding, have fun with it and remember it’s your day, so make it memorable.
