QUESTION: What are the four "must haves" for your wedding?
ANSWER: 1 Bride, 1 Groom, A marriage license and drum roll.......A Wedding Officiant.
I am always surprised when I hear from a bride, or groom and they say something like. "I'm getting married next Saturday and I have everything planned but I forgot to find an officiant."
Many times an article on wedding planning will not mention, or will mention at the very end of the article the need for an officiant. It seems that everything, right down to the napkins somehow has taken precedent over something you cannot have a wedding without.
I also get last minute calls from people who tell me they have received a last minute call from the officiant saying they would not be able to perform the ceremony.
So brides and grooms, remember your officiant is not just a ho hum part of your wedding. The main event of your special day should be planned around a lovely ceremony which will convey your feelings and beliefs and will be remembered both by you and by your guests.
I invite you to visit my website The Simple Wedding for lots of good ideas to help make your day special. And if you are planning a south Florida wedding and I can be of service please contact me.
Congratulations on your wedding day!

Comment by Keely Thomas-Moore on December 6, 2011 at 5:59pm Thanks for the great post! I love weddings and have been in a few as a bridesmaid, I can't say how many times finding a wedding officiant has been forgotten until the last minute. Most wedding planning sites don't really mention it; they're more about the decorating and design instead of the essentials. Thanks for putting this out there; if it starts to be emphasized as a more obvious part of the planning process, then I think it would be less stressful for people.
