MINDEN, NEVADA -- A groom in Nevada was arrested during his wedding ceremony this week. It all started when the grooms estranged mother made an appearance at his wedding, the mother objected, and the groom ejected her... literally.

Police say that the groom, Justin Lew Harris, 35, of Garderville, Nevada carried his 56-year-old mother out of the church during his wedding ceremony when she crashed his wedding ceremony and loudly interrupted the wedding officiant as she tried to stop the wedding.

Carson Valley United Methodist Church volunteer, Jim Jameson, says Harris' wedding was called off after the disruption. He didn't know what the mother's objections concerned.

Justin Harris faces misdemeanor disorderly conduct and coercion charges. He was released from jail on his own recognizance Wednesday.

East Fork Justice Tom Perkins urged Justin Harris to treat family members with respect after the mother indicated she wanted contact with him. Justin Harris will return to court for a hearing on November 2nd.

Sure, she wasn't invited to her son's wedding, but why would you need to go there and crash the wedding, and why would he need to get so upset that he picked her up and threw her out of the church?! I would have handled this differently, and if it was a surprise with my mother showing up, I would have asked someone to help me to calm and remove her (not physically) but I do understand since she was loud and all the attention on her that it didn't go this way, but someone at the wedding should have stepped in to help... why would the groom have to make his way to the back of the church and get there before anyone else could to try and calm his mother. If you ask me... if the groom went to jail for disorderly, then why shouldn't the mother be charged too since she was the aggressive one who busted in the church and interrupted the wedding ceremony in the first place. They should both be put into a jail cell, the same cell, and not be let out until they work out their differences.

Comment by Jessica Fitzpatrick on October 22, 2011 at 11:21am: What a sad situation when you don't get along with your mother so much that you don't invite her to your wedding and then cause such a scene in front of the rest of your family and friends by carrying your mother out of the church.

I'm not condoning what his mom did either by crashing his wedding the way she did so rudely, but imagine how upset that she was knowing that her son is getting married and didn't try to patch things up with his mom before the wedding so she could attend.

I don't blame mom for being upset, but I do think she could have handled this much more appropriately, as could have the groom.

It's just a very sad situation.

Can you (tying the knott) or anyone else find out if there is a video anywhere for this? what an awesome touch to this story it would be. I'm assuming at the time you wrote this article there was nobody willing to talk in the family, but maybe the volunteer at the church could volunteer a little info... like the guest list? lol... I feel evil now.

That would be awesome if you could get your hands on one, but if you have to pay someone for it then never mind, but it would be awesome to see this happening, lol.

I really feel evil now, but I really like reading the news articles, forum discussions and blogs on here and especially the news articles so that people commenting can gossip about things...

...but sometimes it seems like that gossip gets heavy... but it's all in good fun, right? More news, please? lol - Jessica

I don't think the mother should have showed up causing a scene in the first place at the guys wedding when she wasn't invited, and since everyone reacts to high stress and embarrassment differently, you can't really blame him for trying to stop her from causing a scene in the middle of his wedding, but I wouldn't say that's trailer trash because of that.
