This year has seen some very prominent weddings, like the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, celebrity wedding of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, both weddings were highly publicized in the media notably as the royal wedding of the century and the most expensive and lavish weddings, but neither of these weddings compares to a recent high profile wedding.

On August 27th, 2011 the most extravagant and expensive wedding took place between celebrity newlyweds Petra Ecclestone and  her new husband James Stunt. The couple tied the knot in Italy with their special day setting a record breaking price tag of more than $5-Million Dollars.

You may think that the recent royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton or even the much talked about Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries wedding was expensive, but the Petra Ecclestone wedding was so royally expensive that it's dimming the limelight on other celebrity and royal weddings.

While the overall value of Kim Kardashian's wedding is reportedly $10-Million Dollars, Kardashian did not pay a penny for her wedding, and in fact, not only did Kardashian not pay for her wedding, but she earned $ MILLIONS $ for tying the knott with her new hubby Kris Humphries. For starters, Andrea Bocelli was there performing "Time to Say Goodbye" the first dance was courtesy of Eric Clapton, and the crowd then danced to The Black Eyed Peas - Petra Ecclestone dished out $2.4-Million dollars to serve her wedding guests with these Peas - Quite an expensive live appearance fee.

The daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone -- Heiress Petra Ecclestone looked absolutely beautiful in a custom Vera Wang wedding dress with a modest price tag of only $130,000!! With a wedding ceremony to remember, taking place at the Castello Orsini-Odescalchi, Just outside of Rome, Italy.

The couple said 'I do' in an outdoor wedding ceremony with the reception following at the same 15th century castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were married in 2006. Inside the castle, guests attending the extraordinary wedding of Petra Ecclestone and James Stunt guzzled down wine at $6,500 a bottle -- Chateau Petrus, of course, while watching an exquisite fireworks display and live acrobatics show.

A total of 350 guests happily accepted the invitation to Ecclestone's wedding. The guest list included a royal snubbed by William and Kate at their wedding in April, Sarah, Duchess of York, and her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Also on hand for the wedding were U.S. socialites Nicky & Paris Hilton, to whom the bride, and her older sister, fellow millionaire, Tamara, are often compared. Tamara tweeted photos of her and her sister prepping throughout the 3-day nuptial spectacular, which Paris Hilton called "the most incredible wedding."

Ecclestone, who has a $4 billion fortune, has been called the "world's richest bride" by People Magazine and is, of course, no stranger to luxury. Her father is Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone and her mother, Slavika, a former Armani model. Ecclestone and Stunt said they signed a prenuptial agreement.

Petra Ecclestone made U.S. headlines in July when she purchased Candy Spelling's 57,000 square-foot Hollywood Mansion, once the most expensive home for sale in the U.S., in an all-cash deal for $85 million. "Candyland," as the Hollywood property has come to be known after its former owner, will be Ecclestone's second estate, she already owns one of Great Britain's most expensive homes, a Georgian mansion in Chelsea, valued at an estimated $90-Million dollars.
